Lead Hand Machinist: CNC Swiss

We are looking for a well-rounded machinist that has working experience with CNC swiss mill-turn centers.
The ideal candidate will need to be able to program, set-up, troubleshoot and operate in a fast-paced production
environment. Our Swiss Citizen lathes have the latest technology including LFV, B-axis, etc.
Continuous improvement, and knowledge transfer is critical to our shop culture.

WHO IS DONMAC

We are manufacturers of tight tolerance assemblies and machined components for mission critical applications.
We have a variety of CNC and cam driven lathes and assembly equipment that produce product for medical,
aerospace, and defence markets.

POSITION SUMMARY
We are looking for a well-rounded machinist that has working experience with CNC swiss mill-turn centers.
The ideal candidate will need to be able to program, set-up, troubleshoot and operate in a fast-paced production
environment. Our Swiss Citizen lathes have the latest technology including LFV, B-axis, etc.
Continuous improvement, and knowledge transfer is critical to our shop culture.

JOB ACTIVITIES

  • Programming, set-up, and operation of multi axis Swiss CNC
  • Assist with quoting, set up charts, tool purchasing,
  • Learn our culture and best practices
  • Utilize your experience and knowledge to develop the next generation
  • Troubleshoot machine issues with outside services
  • Be available for extra-curricular training including nights and weekends
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts and work instructions
  • Maintain product quality
  • Verify dimensions of parts using precise measuring instruments including micrometers, calipers, optical comparator, CMM, Vision inspection, etc.
  • Collaborate with engineering, QC, and management to maintain efficiency
  • Other duties as required

SKILLS AND EDUCATION REQUIRED

  • Attention to detail and analytically break down and solve problems
  • Interested in long term career commitment
  • Working knowledge of milling, turning, drilling, grinding, broaching, and other machine functions
  • Team orientated and dependable with reliable transportation
  • Be able to be on your feet for a full shift. Bend and lift 50 lbs
  • Good housekeeping and organizational skills
  • Grade 12 or equivalent with strong math and science skills

Other Assets include:

  • Experience with Citizen, Mitsubishi controls.
  • Experience as a programmer with WinCNC and Alkart
  • Experience with CMM operation and interpretation
  • Experience as a supervisor or the ability to supervise others
  • Experience or knowledge with CAM programming of complex parts
  • Any post-secondary school or training in manufacturing, metalworking, machining, tool and die, drafting, metrology or similar is an asset
  • Hobbies that include attention to detail and dexterity
  • Experience with Lean manufacturing principles, 5S, Six Sigma, etc

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be a Canadian Citizen
  • Mandatory criminal background check
  • Must be able to travel outside the Country
  • Speak, read, and write in English fluently

  • Set up and adjust production machines and tools
  • Maintain and complete inspection reports
  • Verify dimensions of parts using precise measuring instruments including micrometers, calipers, optical comparator, Vision inspection etc..)
  • Fit and assemble components and machine parts to close tolerance
  • Follow written and verbal directions
  • Other Duties as required

  • Experience reading blueprints and drawings
  • Programing CNC equipment
  • College or University degree in mechanical engineering
  • Any experience in metal working, machining, drafting, tool and die, metrology, quality, or manufacturing practises
  • Hobbies that include attention to detail and dexterity (modelling, crafting, fishing etc.)
