WHO IS DONMAC

We are manufacturers of tight tolerance assemblies and machined components for mission critical applications.

We have a variety of CNC and automated assembly equipment that produce components for medical, aerospace, and defence markets.

POSITION SUMMARY

We are looking for well-rounded individuals that have a passion for learning and technology. An ideal candidate would have experience with Sliding Headstock CNC Swiss Lathes. However, if you possess strong mechanical skills and want to fill your days working with advanced machining and manufacturing technology then we can train you.

As you grow with our company you will be expected to learn how to program, set-up, troubleshoot and operate CNC equipment. We operate in a fast-paced production environment utilizing 7-axis CNC Swiss lathes that have the latest technology including LFV and B-axis machining capability. Continuous improvement, and knowledge transfer is critical to our shop culture.

JOB ACTIVITIES

  • Learn our culture and best practices
  • Maintain product quality
  • Programing, set-up, and operation of multi axis Swiss CNC
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts, and work instructions
  • Verify dimensions of parts using precise measuring instruments including micrometers, calipers, optical comparator, CMM, Vision inspection, etc.
  • Collaborate with engineering, QC, and management to maintain efficiency
  • Other duties as required

    • Any post-secondary school or training in manufacturing, metalworking, machining, tool and die, drafting, metrology or similar is an asset
    • Experience with Lean manufacturing principles, 5S, Six Sigma, etc
    • Working knowledge of milling, turning, drilling, grinding, broaching, and other machine functions

    Precision Assembly Technician

    Position Details

    POSITION SUMMARY
    We are a manufacturer of tight tolerance assemblies and machined components for mission critical applications. We pride ourselves in extreme precision and continuous improvement through growth and constant development of our people.

    Entry level and experienced positions available for precision assembly technicians. This position will have the responsibility to ensure that finished product is assembled to drawing specifications.

    The new plant in Foxboro, Ontario has room for you to grow your skills and learn the interesting world of manufacturing, machining and quality products built here in Canada. We employ licensed machinists, CNC programmers, detailing technicians, quality control lab personnel and other support staff throughout the facility.

    JOB ACTIVITIES

    • Fit and assemble components and machine parts to tight tolerance’s
    • Operation of assembly equipment
    • Handle and measure delicate product
    • Confirm quality with precision instruments
    • Record and track measurements using charts and documentation
    • Other duties as required by supervisor

    • Grade 12 or equivalent and any post secondary school training in manufacturing, metalworking, machining, tool and die, drafting or similar is an asset
    • Hobbies that include attention to detail and fine dexterity is an asset.

    JOB ACTIVITIES

    • Provide ongoing technical support for CNC machining and assembly processes. Swiss CNC experience is an asset.
    • Interpret process requirements including material, production and quality, documentation, and scheduling
    • Interface with suppliers of raw material, tooling, plating, heat treating and other manufacturing processes to establish engineering requirements and production needs.
    • Provide time studies, analyze raw material, identify tooling and overall process requirements for quoting purposes.
    • Prepare quotations for new jobs, including material and processing costs, tooling, gauges and capital investment costs if required
    • Maintain ongoing process control through quality troubleshooting and process improvement investigation.
    • Regular review of all processes and operator instructions to ensure accuracy and conformance to actual procedures.
    • Investigate and resolve technical process problems.
    • Participate in productivity improvement initiatives.
    • Evaluate and edit internal drawings and data prior to release to production; utilize internal control process to release engineering documents
    • Participate in the design of new processes/products and the continuous improvement of existing processes
    • Participate in customer meetings, audits and site visits
    • Evaluate performance and analyze data

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

    • 5+ years in production machining environment
    • 2+ years in a leadership or management position
    • Understanding of advanced machining processes and planning
    • Degree or diploma in an engineering discipline, journeyman machinist, mechanical technician, or an equivalent combination of similar relevant education and experience
    • Knowledge and working experience with lean manufacturing practises
    • Training in manufacturing, metalworking, machining, tool and die, drafting, metrology or similar is an asset
    • Experience with 2D and 3D CAD software is an asset
    • Experience with manufacturing operations software is an asset
    • Manufacturing experience in medical, aerospace or defense products
    • Manufacturing experience in a machine shop is a must
